Morton College is committed to maintaining an educational and work environment free from sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking, in accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, applicable Illinois law, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) along with the Campus Save Act and the Jeanne Clery Act, Morton College will not tolerate any form of sexual discrimination or sexual misconduct.

Sex discrimination in any form is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.

Application

This policy applies to:

  • All students, employees, faculty, and third parties

  • Conduct occurring:

    • On campus

    • During college-sponsored activities

    • Off-campus conduct that impacts the educational environment

Morton College designates the following: Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator.  Both coordinators work to oversee institutional compliance.

Definitions

Sexual Harassment (Title IX Definition)

Conduct on the basis of sex that includes:

  • Quid pro quo harassment (employment or academic benefits conditioned on sexual conduct)

  • Hostile environment harassment (severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive)

  • Sexual assault

  • Dating violence

  • Domestic violence

  • Stalking

Consent

Clear, voluntary, and ongoing agreement to engage in sexual activity. Consent cannot be obtained through coercion, force, or when a person is incapacitated.

Reporting Prohibited Conduct

Any individual may report sex discrimination or harassment to:

  • Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator

  • Responsible employees (faculty, supervisors, administrators)

  • Campus security

Supportive Measures

Morton College will offer supportive measures regardless of whether a formal complaint is filed, including:

  • Counseling services

  • Academic accommodations

  • Schedule modifications

  • No-contact directives

  • Campus safety measures

Confidentiality

Morton College will respect privacy to the extent possible while fulfilling its obligation to respond to complaints.
