Computer Information Systems

The Morton College Computer Science programs offer students the opportunity to develop and apply essential skills, knowledge, and abilities that will enable them to successfully utilize technology not only in their academic courses but also throughout their professional careers and everyday lives. Students will learn to apply programming logic to design and develop computer programs, create engaging web pages, and produce multimedia presentations. Additionally, the program covers managing computer operating systems, configuring and maintaining computers and networks, as well as upgrading and repairing computer hardware. Furthermore, students will gain expertise in managing cybersecurity networks, configuring and maintaining critical systems, and implementing important security processes.

  • This curriculum prepares graduates for employment as computer support specialists in a business environment and is designed for learners planning to transfer to a four-year college or university. All students must complete 23 credit hours of general education courses.

  • This 22 hour certificate is designed for students to gain knowledge and experience on how servers and software operate in the various cloud configurations.

  • This curriculum is designed to give students a basic understanding of the game and simulation programming development process. The career certificate can lead to the Associate in Applied Science degree in Computer Science or prepare students for transfer to a Bachelor’s degree program in this specialty.

  • This curriculum is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of web site and multimedia development. Students will learn how to create and enhance web pages, designing Web sites using the tools of HTML, Java, multimedia design, and database applications.
