Child Learning Center
The Morton College Learning Center is recipient of the Gold Circle of Quality award from ExceleRate Illinois, a new quality rating and improvement system for early learning and development preschool providers.
Preschool
Morton College students, employees, and families in the community with children ages 3 to 5 may sign up for the Preschool-for-All program (subject to availability). This high-quality early learning opportunity for preschoolers is free of charge and available on weekdays during the fall and spring semesters. There are two morning and two afternoon sessions, two and a half hours each, as parents can only select one of them. The preschool is funded through ISBE, and the Gold Circle programs meet and exceed specific quality benchmarks on the learning environment, instructional quality, and all program administrative standards, group size and staff/child ratios, staff qualifications, and professional development.
The early childhood program implements developmentally appropriate practices defined by NAEYC, allowing children to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively, and supports the relationships between children, their families, and teachers.
All half-day sessions are available for children of students, faculty, staff and the community. We keep in touch through newsletters, progress reports, and open houses.
Our "Preschool for All" provides interactions and experiences to help children to:
Advance in language, cognitive, physical, and social-emotional skills
Develop problem-solving skills
Develop conflict resolution skills
Manage emotions and behaviors
