Benefits
Morton College provides the following benefits to its full-time employees. Current employees can access detailed benefit information on the Morton College Intranet.
Medical
Medical insurance is provided via BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois. Several plans are offered (HMO, PPO, and a high-deductible plan) for just employees or for family coverage. New hires are eligible from first day of work.
Dental
Dental insurance is provided via BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois. Two plans are offered (HMO and PPO) for just employees, for employee + dependent, or for family coverage. New hires are eligible from first day of work.
Vision
Vision insurance is provided via BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois through EyeMed Vision Care’s independent provider network. New hires are eligible from first day of work.
Term Life/AD&D
Basic term life coverage and AD&D is provided via BlueCross Blue Shield of Illinois through Dearborn Life at no employee cost. Optional supplemental coverage for employees and dependents is available at employee expense.
Retirement
Most employees participate in the State University Retirement System (SURS). Additional 403(b) and 457(b) voluntary plans are also available. All employee contributions are tax-deferred.
Long Term Disability
Long-term disability insurance is provided via BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois through Dearborn Life. This optional benefit is available at employee expense.
Credit Union
Membership with Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is available to employees and spouses. Financial services include savings options, auto loans, and home mortgages.
Work/Life Balance
Accruals of personal, sick, and (for non-faculty) vacation leave, along with 12 paid holidays, closure for the last two weeks of December, and Fridays off during the summer.
Free Tuition
Employees and their dependents qualify for free tuition for classes taken at Morton College.
