Registration for the Spring 2025 semester is going on right now!

Here's some helpful hints to make the process easier for you to enroll at Morton College.

Starting early to build relationships with students at our district’s two feeder high schools. This morning, a group of 100 students from Morton East High School’s Freshman Center went on a campus tour. They visited with Yukto Tsang in Anatomy and Microbiology, Nancy Jeffries and Geana Chapp in Nursing’s ICU area and Mike Jonas in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. This is the fourth of five visits this fall with students from Morton East’s Freshman Center. The final one is scheduled for Friday. Looking forward to seeing this group here at Morton College as students in the Fall of 2028!

Students from Morton College's Skills for Daily Living program enjoyed participating at the Special Olympics Unified Schools Region C Corn Hole tournament last week at North Central College in Naperville. Next year, this event will become an official Special Olympics sport!

Miramontes’ works interpret Mexican-American history and the Chicano experience in the United States. He will be discussing the Mexican Revolution of 1910. November 20th is the anniversary of the start of the Mexican Revolution. The day is celebrated as Día de la Revolución, or Revolution Day, and is a public holiday in Mexico.

November schedule for Financial Aid's FAFSA/Alternative workshops. Events planned from 11 a.m. to noon November 21 in the One Stop Center. Come in person or call ahead to set up a virtual appointment.

Five Morton College students attended the Skyway Writers Competition and Festival at McHenry County College held earlier this month. We had seven students who advanced to the festival, but not all could attend.

Selected as finalists from Morton College were Kahlia Harris, Isle Martinez, Adriana Rivera, Guadalupe Rodriguez, Madeline Silva, Cheron Solis and Minel Zizumbo.

Categories for submission include:
• Short fiction: 5,000-word limit
• Creative nonfiction: 5,000-word limit
• Poetry: each poem is limited to 3 pages; submit each separately
• Drama/play/screenplay: 5,000-word limit

Any student currently enrolled in one of the eight Skyway colleges may enter the competition.

There also will be a lecture with Miramontes at 5 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, November 20th) in the Centennial Room. It is free and open to the public.

Miramontes’ works interpret Mexican-American history and the Chicano experience in the United States. Former Morton College Trustee Frank Aguilar started bringing Miramontes’ works to campus. This relationship continues as Aguilar serves on the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
