  • Former Faculty Member's Work Becomes Part of the State of Illinois Art Collection

    Former Faculty member Denise Bellezzo's monoprint, MAZ Calle Liberty (shown above) will become a part of the State of Illinois Art collection. The piece is currently in Fragile Relations, a group show of 14 Illinois artists that respond to nature and the environment in their art that is the Springfield Gallery State of Illinois Museum, March 27 – August 31, 2014. 

    MAZ Calle Liberty is one of seven monoprints in the show that were created during Ms. Bellezzo's 2009 sabbatical 2009 in Mexico and Italy.

    The Fragile Relations show has been touring at the various State venues since 2012 at the Chicago Gallery. It is slated for Lockport Gallery, Springfield Gallery, Rend Lake Gallery.

    Exhibit Features Works by Former Art Instructor

    Former Instructor Denise Bellezzo is one of fourteen Illinois artists in the group show Fragile Relations. The exhibition features works by artists who are inspired by nature and the environment and show diverse ways of experiencing and perceiving the world. The piece shown above, by Mary Ellen Croteau, is made out of plastic bottle caps.

    The traveling show will come to the Illinois State Museum, Springfield Gallery, Springfield, IL, March 27 - August 17, 2014.

    Two Students Receive Skyway Art Competition Awards

    The Skyway Art Competition Award Ceremony and Reception was held at McHenry CC Saturday March 8. Five MC students received Certificate of participation. They are Tania Romero, David Green, Faryal Choudhry, Roberto Juarez, Jesus Rodriguez.

    In addition, 2 of our students received Awards.

    Tania Romero, AWARD OF MERIT (this is her first time in Skyway and her first Award).

    Faryal Choudhry, AWARD OF MERIT (she has been in Skyway three times, each time winning an Award).

    Also, Jesus Rodriguez’ drawing was sold to an Art patron. (this is his first Art sale).
